Town of Woodland Special Called Meeting to Open Armory Bids

At 10:00 a.m., Mayor Beale called the meeting to order.

The board discussed the two upset bids that came in during the ten day upset bid process, and they agreed that neither were qualified bids. Mr. Richardson’s bid had stipulations which Atty. Culpepper said made his offer disqualified. We are selling the armory as is and we are looking for straight offers. Mr. Seal’s offer did not meet the criteria of a qualified bid as he did not send in a cashier’s check or certified check as a down payment, and his bid came through an email, not technically a sealed bid. For these reasons, the board agreed the highest qualified bid belongs to Tam Sonnenberg.

Commissioner Christison made a motion to sell the armory to Tam Sonnenberg for $25,000. Mr. Sonnenberg paid a down payment of $1,250, leaving his balance remaining to be paid at $23,750. Commissioner Outland seconded and the motion carried.

The board asked Mrs. McDermott to notify Atty. Culpepper and ask him to start the paperwork on the deed. They also asked Mrs. McDermott to notify the two other gentlemen who made offers.

At 10:15 a.m., Commissioner Morris made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Christison seconded and the motion carried.
